Gud vil straffe Rusland, for dets mange synder.

Her er mange svar at give:

Tilsvarende ting skete forholdsvis ofte i gammeltestamentlig tid.

10 Jøderne får udvidet deres landområde i Mellemøsten.

Ezekiel 38:17.

Brat kommer ødelæggeren over os. Jeremias 6:22-26.

Men gå du (Daniel) din ende i møde. Daniel 12:12-13.

This article lists some of the reasons why many Christians believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, which view I share. I wasn't originally intending to write about the Rapture. On other pages
in this website I have simply expressed my belief that the Rapture of the Church will happen before the tribulation period begins, a view less and less commonly held in these last days. But
because more and more people have been asking me to explain why I believe this, I decided to put it up here on the internet for you all to read (and to save my fingers!).

Firstly I would like to say that this is simply my understanding of Scripture. I would not seek to argue with anyone who believes something entirely different. Everyone is entitled to hold
to what they believe. Here, I am simply stating my reasons for believing in a pre-tribulation Rapture.

For those who don't know what the Rapture is. The Lord Jesus told the disciples in John 14 that He was going away to prepare a place for those who had trusted in Him as their Saviour. He
gave this promise...

John 14:3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

A brief description
The word "Rapture" is not in the Bible. The word comes from a Latin verb meaning to "catch away". But this is not a valid reason for believing
there is no "Rapture". The word "Trinity" is also not found in the Bible, yet we know for certain God exists in "three persons", and that the working of all three of these Divine Persons is
required for salvation.

There are numerous Scriptures which describe the Rapture of the Church. The Lord Jesus, according to the book of 1st Thessalonians, will come to the air. The bodies of all those who have
trusted in Christ as their Saviour will immediately be transformed into a new body. This new body will have several characteristics, most notably that it is incapable of sin (and therefore
fit to live in heaven), and it will not suffer sickness or death. At this same time, the bodies of all those who have died since trusting Christ will also be resurrected from the dust, and
their bodies will be changed into immortal bodies. These bodies will then be reunited with their souls (the real person) which was in heaven. These believers will then be "caught up together
with Christ" into heaven, where they will stay until the end of the tribulation period. 1st Corinthians states that these events will happen within "the twinkling of an eye", almost
instantaneously.

1st Corinthians 15:51-52
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead
shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Daniel's seventy weeks
It's important to understand that God's prophetic calendar centres completely around the nation of Israel. In Daniel chapter 9, the angel Gabriel told Daniel that God had determined
(appointed) 70 weeks of years upon his people the Jews.

Daniel 9:24
Seventy weeks (490 years) are determined upon thy people (the Jews) and upon thy holy city (Jerusalem), to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for
iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy (Jesus Christ).

Daniel 9:25-26
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks
(69 weeks total): the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of
the prince that shall come (Romans) shall destroy the city and the sanctuary (Jerusalem and the Temple); and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are
determined.

The seventy weeks started with the proclamation to rebuild the Temple after the Babylonian captivity. This is significant, for the Temple is God's dwelling place on Earth. There are
never two Temples described as existing simultaneously in Scripture. But that Temple was destroyed in 70 AD, and Christ said regarding it, "your house is left unto you desolate",
Luke 13:35. The current abode of the Lord is in the "Temple" of the believers' bodies (1st Corinthians 6:19). The 70th week of Daniel will also commence with a peace agreement that will see
the restitution of Temple sacrifices, subsequent to the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple. But this Temple will be defiled by the Antichrist, and so is not counted as God's dwelling place. This
is why you will read in the book of Revelation that the true Temple during the tribulation period will be in heaven.

Revelation 11:19
And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great
hail.

The prophet Daniel predicted the exact date of the arrival of the Messiah into the city of Jerusalem, and describes how He would be "cut off" after the 69th week. Following the end of that
week, there was a 40 year period (40 in Scripture always speaks of judgement) after which the city and sanctuary were destroyed by the armies of Titus in 70 AD.

Daniel 9:27
And he (Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many (nations) for one week (seven years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the
overspreading of abominations he shall make it (the Temple) desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel's 70th week describes the arrival of the Antichrist, and his peace agreement with many nations which should last for seven years (but only lasts for 3.5 years). But we know the
Antichrist has not yet come, neither has any Jewish Temple existed for 2000 years, so there must be an explanation why these events have not happened yet... After the nation of Israel
rejected the Messiah, God's prophetic clock stopped. Israel was scattered among the nations, and God turned to the Gentiles. The Church was formed, and now all those who believe in Christ are
justified through faith in Him. One day God will again take up the nation of Israel. We can see that happening today. Daniel's 70th week will commence once the Antichrist confirms the
covenant with many nations. But what has all this to do with the Rapture?

Daniel's 70 weeks were determined upon "his people" - the Jews, and the "Holy City" - Jerusalem. The seventieth week therefore is not determined upon Christ's Church. Part of the reason
why seventy weeks were determined upon Israel were for Israel to finish the transgression and make and end of sins. Christ has already made an end of sins for the Church at Calvary. Christ
also made reconciliation for iniquity, has brought in everlasting righteousness, and in the Church's eyes is anointed King. Until Israel recognizes Jesus as Messiah, the prophecy of all these
things coming to pass for Israel will not be "sealed up" (or fulfilled).

If the Church was only created after the 69th week, after God had set aside Israel, it makes sense if, when the 70th week of Daniel begins and God once again takes up Israel, that the
Church is also removed from the scene.

Israel and the Church
Some people get confused over the timing of the Rapture because of a failure to distinguish between the Church (Bride of Christ) and Israel
(Wife of Yahweh). A lot of Christians today sadly believe that God has cast off Israel permanently, and that the Church has somehow stolen all Israel's blessings. Not only is this contrary to
Scripture (Romans 9-11 and many other passages), it also calls into question many of the prophecies concerning the last days. God still has a plan for Israel.

Jeremiah 31:35-37
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The
LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus saith the LORD; If
heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

As we saw earlier, the Church really doesn't fit into Old Testament prophecy. In fact, out of the 39 books of the Old Testament the Church is not mentioned once. And yet the return of
Christ to Earth is mentioned hundreds of times. Why?

Ephesians 3:5-6
Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same
body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

The Church was hidden in Christ. The Church exists in a special period of God's grace in which the Lord would pour out His blessings on the Gentiles. This why it is also important to make
a distinction between the Church and Israel. Christ's Second Coming to Earth will fulfill the earthly promises that were given to Israel (Luke 1:32-33). But the Church was never promised an
earthly kingdom. Christ said, "My kingdom is not of this world, lest would my servants fight", John 18:36. As Christians, we are not specifically looking for Christ's Second
Coming to Earth, but for Christ's Coming to the air, where we will be caught up to meet Him. These are two distinct events in Scripture.

Zechariah 14:4
And his (Christ's) feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof
toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

1st Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and
remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The Rapture in the New Testament
There is a lot of confusion over certain New Testament Scriptures regarding the Rapture of the Church, mainly because of the failure
to distinguish the times when Christ is speaking specifically of Israel (which as a nation will endure the tribulation), and when Christ speaks of the Church.

Matthew 24:38-42
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came,
and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the
mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

I once believed that the above verses were references to the Rapture of the Church, until someone pointed out to me that the "taking away" here was to do
with judgement, not the Rapture. I never really understood why until I read the corresponding passage in Luke.

Luke 17:33-37
Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken,
and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

"Wherever the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together". These people that are "taken" are destined for judgement, not the Rapture. From what I understand their bodies will lie
unburied for the birds of the air to scavenge. Revelation contains a similar description of this event...

Revelation 19:17-18
And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the
great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both
free and bond, both small and great.

Another passage concerning the Tribulation that is often misunderstood, refers specifically to Israel. The Church isn't mentioned.

Matthew 24:16-21
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back
to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then
shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The Lord Jesus is speaking specifically of those living in the locality of Judea during the time of the tribulation, he is not speaking of the Church in this passage. These Jews will
suffer such terrible persecution, that will come upon them with such speed that they will literally have to drop everything and run for their lives. The prophetic passage Christ is referring
to is found in Revelation 12 and in Zechariah 14 (at the end of the Tribulation), concerning the persecution of Israel by Satan through the Antichrist.

Revelation 12:13-14
And when the dragon (Satan) saw that he was cast unto the earth (By the war with the holy angels in heaven), he persecuted the woman (Israel) which brought forth the man child (Jesus Christ).
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (3.5 years), from
the face of the serpent.

Zechariah 14:4-5
And his (Christ's) feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and
toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye (Israel) shall flee to the valley of
the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God
shall come, and all the saints with thee.

No mention of the Church on earth past Revelation 3
The book of Revelation was penned by the Apostle John to the seven churches in Asia (now called Turkey). The Lord
told John that He would tell him to write of things past, present and future (Revelation 1:19). Chapters 1 to 3 deal specifically which things that were past and present, while chapter 4
onwards deals with the future. We find that the Church is not mentioned in the book of Revelation past chapter 3, until you reach chapter 19.

Jesus Christ gave specific promises to the 7 churches mentioned in the book of Revelation. It is commonly believed that these 7 churches, although they were literal assemblies of believers
that lived during John's day, are generally representative of 7 different periods of Church history. It is believed that we are currently living within the time period of the last of the 7
churches, the Laodicean church age. That can be plainly seen in the following verses.

Revelation 3:16-17
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest
not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

One of these promises Jesus Christ gave to the Philadelphian church, the only church in Revelation that Christ didn't have a single word of condemnation for.

Revelation 3:10
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

The Greek word "from" in this verse means "out of". It's the same word used by Christ in the garden of Gethsemane, where He prayed for the Father to "save Me from this hour",
John 12:27. Christ wasn't intending to keep this church through the hour of temptation (trial), which would come upon all the world, He was literally going to remove them from it. But the
church of Philadelphia no longer exists, so this promise must be applicable to the Church as a whole today.

1st Thessalonians 5:7-10
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an
helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to (Divine) wrath, but to obtain (physical) salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake (are alive)
or sleep (or dead), we should live (Rapture) together with him.

Another verse confirms this again in Paul's letter to the Thessalonians. We who are of the day are not appointed to be there for the Divine wrath that will be poured out on the whole
world, but we shall obtain physical salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. Physical salvation, because we have already obtained spiritual salvation when we were saved. And the verses immediately
following this passage are concerning the Rapture of the Church.

24 elders cast down their crowns
In chapters 4 and 5, John sees a group of 24 elders wearing crowns. What is the identity of these men? Angels are never crowned in the Bible. The Greek word for "crown" in these verses is
"stephanos", meaning "to twine or weave together". These crowns are not the type worn by kings (royal crown) or priests (holiness), but the type of crowns or wreaths that are awarded at the
Olympic games (rewards). This helps us understand why in chapter 5, the elders cast their crowns at Christ's feet, acknowledging that He is the only one worthy of praise. The only ones
promised these types of crowns were five distinct groups of people, the victor's crown (1st Corinthians 9:25), the shepherd's crown (1st Peter 5:4), those watching for Christ's coming (2nd
Timothy 4:8), the overcomer's crown (Revelation 2:10) and the soul-winner's crown (1st Thessalonians 2:19). So here we have a group of 24 believers who have obtained crowns, and are casting
them down at Christ's feet during the tribulation period. We will not obtain our crowns until the Judgement seat of Christ (2nd Timothy 4:8), so the Rapture of the Church must have already
occurred by chapter number 5. Many Christians believe the Judgement seat of Christ will take place in Heaven during the Tribulation period. Concerning the Rapture, many also believe chapter 4
verse 1 is a picture of this, where the Lord commands John to "Come up here".

144,000 Jews
Throughout John's description of events on Earth during the Tribulation period, the Church is never mentioned. But Israel is frequently mentioned. In
chapter 7, we read how God commands the angels to not hurt the Earth until He has sealed 144,000 Jews with His Holy Spirit. These 144,000 witnesses, 12,000 from each tribe of Israel, will go
throughout the world in the last days and preach the gospel of the kingdom. If the Church remains on Earth during the Tribulation, then why is the Lord recruiting Jewish believers to do the
work He commanded the Church to do in Mark 16:15? The Rapture must have occurred before the start of the Tribulation period for this reason. After the Rapture, the Church will no longer be
able to witness for Christ on Earth. God can't be without a witness to men, and we know that there will be an untold multitude saved during the Tribulation period (Revelation 7:9). So a
remnant of the House of Israel is sealed with the Holy Spirit to be a witness to the world of impending judgement and the need to turn to God for salvation.

144,000 killed during the tribulation period?
Some say that the 144,000 Jews are the remnant of Israel that will survive the tribulation, and that the Church at this
time will still be witnessing on Earth. This following information is something I just noticed recently in discussion with a good friend of mine, so correct me if I'm wrong. I believe that
Israel as a nation will not be saved until they recognize their Messiah, at the end of the tribulation period (Zechariah 12:10) when Christ comes. The 144,000 Jews are saved at the start of
the tribulation period, and are killed for their witness by the Antichrist (Revelation 13:7). In Revelation 14, the 144,000 are in heaven, which implies that they were all killed for their
witness.

Revelation 14:1-3
And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven,
as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the
throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the
earth.

The fact that these 144,000 are in heaven before Christ's Second Coming, and the resurrection of Old Testament Saints which happens after the tribulation period, is explained in verse
four. The 144,000 Jews are called the "firstfruits unto God". The Feast of Firstfruits was when the Israelites offered the food they gathered at the beginning of the harvest for a
thank-offering to God. Firstfruits also speaks of resurrection, and Jesus is described as being the "Firstfruits from among the dead", or the first Man to be resurrected in a new body, never
to die again. So the 144,000 are the Firstfruits of the salvation of Israel, and of the resurrection of Old Testament Saints.

Revelation 14:4
These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the
firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

1st Corinthians 15:20
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

After the 144,000 are slain, God is still not left without a witness. In the following verses, several angels take up where the 144,000 left off, and preach the gospel to the whole
world.

Revelation 14:6
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people,

Arrayed in fine linen, white and clean
In chapter 19 we read that the Church will be arrayed in fine linen, white and clean, a picture of the Bride of Christ making
herself ready for the Marriage.

Revelation 19:7
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine
linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Marriage of the Lamb
There is further evidence that a pre-tribulation rapture is the correct viewpoint according to Scripture. The timing of the Rapture as set forth
in Scripture uniquely parallels that of the traditional Jewish marriage. The Jewish tradition is described in Matthew 25, in the parable of the five wise and five foolish virgins. Note, they
were all virgins (professors), but only five brought oil, which is a symbol of the Holy Spirit (only five were possessors). This is in keeping with the Scriptural teaching of the Rapture,
that only those who are Born Again Christians (as opposed to nominal "Christians" who never experienced the new birth) will be caught up to be with Christ in heaven. Also note, these verses
can't be used to teach a partial rapture theory, in which only some "worthy" Christians will be raptured, while the foolish ones will endure the tribulation period. The Bible states that
while the Bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. There were none that were watching for His coming. The virgins (professing Christians) who were shut out of the marriage,
knocked the door demanding entrance. The reply came back from their Lord, "I know you not", Matthew 25:12. This Scripture proves that the parable of the five wise and five
foolish virgins does not teach a "partial rapture", for the Lord could never say these words to one of His own. The Lord said in John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and
they follow Me".

According to the Jewish wedding tradition, the husband goes away to prepare a home for His bride. Once the home is prepared, He will come to the Bride's house at an unexpected hour, and
take her to His own house, where they will have the honeymoon.

Matthew 25:10
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

After the wedding, there is usually a seven day honeymoon period, which according to Rapture Alert and Favor Minded, links up nicely with the seven year tribulation period on Earth.

The Marriage Supper
If I am correct, the Marriage Supper usually occurs at the Bride's home. This therefore, may take place on Earth, during the Millennial Reign of
Christ.

The attire of the Church is fine linen, white and clean, which reminds us of how Christ's blood has washed away our sin, and made us accepted in God's eyes. The next time we read of fine
linen, white and clean is a few verses down the chapter. This chapter describes the Second Coming of Christ to the earth.

Revelation 19:11-14
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he (Jesus Christ) that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a
flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The
Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

If Scripture interprets Scripture, then the armies which were in heaven must be the Church. For it could never be said that angels were arrayed in clean linen, for they have never been
redeemed. So if we, the Church, ride out of heaven with Christ at His Second Coming to Earth, the Rapture must have already occurred.

The Last Trump
1st Corinthians 15:51-52
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall
be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

The Apostle Paul states in 1st Corinthians 15:52, that believers will be translated to be with Christ at the "last trump". There are seven main feasts that the Lord instructed the children
of Israel to observe.

The Feast of Passover (Pesach - Exodus 12:1-14)
The Feast of Unleavened Bread (Hag HaMatzah - Exodus 12:15-20)
The Feast of Firstfruits (Leviticus 23:9-11)
The Feast of Weeks (Shavuot or Pentecost - Exodus 34:22)
The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh HaShanah - Leviticus 23:24)
The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur - Leviticus 23:27)
The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot - Leviticus 23:34).

The first four feasts, the Spring feasts, have already found their fulfilment in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Passover was literally fulfilled when Jesus Christ - the Lamb of God
(John 1:29), was sacrificed for the sins of the world upon that same day (Matthew 26:2). Immediately following this comes the Feast of Unleavened Bread, during which the Jewish people were to
eat bread without yeast, which is symbolic of sin. The Lord Jesus Christ's body was in the tomb during those days, and as the Scriptures state, His body saw no corruption for there was no sin
in Him (Psalm 16:10). On the second day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Jews celebrate the Feast of Firstfruits - the beginning of the barley harvest. Christ arose from the dead on the
Feast of Firstfruits, becoming the Firstfruits from among the dead (1st Corinthians 15:20). Pentecost commemorates the date of the giving of the law upon Mount Sinai, and falls fifty days
after Firstfruits. This Feast was fulfilled when the Lord sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to indwell His Church (John 16:7, Acts 2:1). God literally wrote His law on our hearts on this
date (Jeremiah 31:33).

The Autumn feats are due to be fulfilled at Christ's return. They are the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles. There are three trumpet blasts that are
spoken of in Judaism, the "first trump", the "last trump" and the "great trump". The first trump is sounded during Pentecost, commemorating the giving of the law - during which a trumpet
blast was heard which grew louder and louder (Exodus 19:16, 19). The last trump is sounded on Rosh HaShanah (Leviticus 23:24). The great trump is blown on Yom Kippur, signalling the return of
the Messiah to Earth.

Rosh HaShanah in Hebrew means "the Head of the Year", as it marks the first day of the civil year. It is also known as "Yom Teruah", or the Day of the Awakening Blast. "Teruah" can also be
translated as "shout". Paul states that the rapture will occur at the "last trump", during which the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a "shout" (1st Thessalonians 4:16). Those
"asleep" in Christ will awaken (1st Thessalonians 4:14), and be caught up with those who are alive and remain to meet the Lord in the air. According to Jewish teaching, the gates of heaven
are opened at Mussaf - the first service of Rosh HaShanah. The gates are closed again at Neilah - the last service of Yom Kippur. Revelation 4:1 gives us a miniature picture of the Rapture of
the Church...

Revelation 4:1-2
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee
things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit:

John sees a door open in heaven (gates) and hears a trumpet (last trump) talking with him. Immediately he is translated into heaven (Rapture), where He sees the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul
states that the Rapture will happen "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye", 1st Corinthians 15:52. This opening and closing of the gates fits in with the Rapture, for the
Church will enter into heaven at the beginning of the seven year period and will return out of heaven at the end of it.

Isaiah 26:2
Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

Rosh HaShanah is also sometimes referred to as "Yom HaDin" - the Day of Judgement (or the day of the resurrection of the dead), "Yom HaZikkaron" - the day of Remembrance, "Yom HaKesah" -
the Day of Concealment (of Christ's Bride in heaven) and "Ha Malech" - the King (or the day of the Coronation of the King). Rosh HaShanah is also known as the "Unknown Day", for it is the
only feast which nobody knows the exact day it will occur, due to the fact that it begins on a new moon. The new moon is very difficult to see, and is usually best seen at sunset. Rosh
HaShanah begins when two witnesses attest to the appearance of the new moon before the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem. As Jewish days begin at sunset, it is never known on which day Rosh HaShanah
will officially begin, so the feast is celebrated over the two days. The Lord also said of His coming, that no man knows the day nor hour, only His Father in heaven (Mark 13:32). Rosh
HaShanah begins a ten day countdown to Yom Kippur, also known as the Days of Awe, in which Jews repent of any sins they have committed over the past year. Between the Feast of Trumpets and
Yom Kippur are seven days of Awe, which are symbolic of the seven year tribulation period. The final day is Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement. In the Scriptures, this was the day the High
Priest entered the Holy Place and sprinkled the blood of the sin offering upon the altar, making atonement for the sins of the people. It was the only day in which the Jews were permitted to
afflict themselves as a sign of repentance for their sins (Leviticus 16:29). Yom Kippur will be fulfilled at the return of Christ to the earth, when the nation looks upon Him whom they
pierced.

Zechariah 12:10-11
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall
mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem,
as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

The last feast, the Feast of Tabernacles, occurs five days after Yom Kippur and will be fulfilled during the Millennial Reign of Christ, and at the creation of the new heavens and new
earth. Revelation 21:3 states, "the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their
God". By examining the Jewish background to the feasts, many Christians believe that the Rapture of the Church will occur before the tribulation period begins, and could possibly
become the fulfilment of the Jewish Feast of Trumpets.

Antichrist only to be revealed after the Rapture
The church of Thessalonica was very concerned about the timing of the Rapture. If Paul's words are to be taken
literally, this church had apparently received a letter claiming to be from the apostles stating that the Second Coming of Christ to the earth had already happened. The Thessalonians were
troubled about those believers who had died, and wondered what would happen to them seeing the resurrection had already taken place. Paul writes to reassure them that the Second Coming of
Christ hadn't actually come yet, and he gave them some assurances that this was the case.

2nd Thessalonians 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (Christ's Second Coming to earth) shall not come, except there come a falling away first (apostasy), and that man of sin be revealed
(Antichrist), the son of perdition;

2nd Thessalonians 2:6-8
And now ye know what withholdeth that he (Antichrist) might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work (Spirit of Antichrist): only he who now letteth (old English
word for "hinders") will let (hinder), until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked (Antichrist) be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and
shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

So Paul gives a double assurance. Christ's Second Coming to Earth can't have already occurred because the Antichrist must be revealed before this happens. And the Antichrist can't be
revealed until whatever is hindering his appearing is first removed. The Antichrist will be revealed to the world the day he confirms the peace agreement in the Middle East. This will trigger
the start of Daniel's 70th week. But something is hindering the Antichrist being revealed (to the world) now. Further study reveals only one logical conclusion on the identity of what that
is.

It's not Christ Himself. Jesus said in John 9:5, "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world". Jesus Christ is no longer physically in the world, He is in
heaven. We know that God is omnipresent (He exists everywhere at all times). So the Spirit of God cannot be the One hindering the revelation of Antichrist, for God cannot be taken from the
earth. If He was taken from the earth, nobody during the Tribulation period could be saved. But Jesus did say the Church was the light and salt of the earth, through the working of the Holy
Spirit.

Matthew 5:13-14
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

I believe that the only thing hindering the Antichrist being revealed today is the Holy Spirit's influence in the world through the believers, holding the tide of sin back. The proof we
have from Scripture that this Restrainer is indeed the Holy Spirit, can be found in the language used by Paul in 2nd Thessalonians itself.

2nd Thessalonians 2:6-7
And now ye know what withholdeth that he (Antichrist) might be revealed in his time: For the mystery of iniquity doth already work (Spirit of Antichrist): only
he who now letteth (old English word for "hinders") will let (hinder), until he be taken out of the way.

Look at the words highlighted in bold in the above verses. No, Paul hasn't made a mistake in his Greek. This doesn't make sense in English, it should really read "now ye know
who withholdeth". But Paul doesn't say that, and the reason why is because the only Person that can ever be described as being both neuter gender and masculine at the same
time is God Himself in the form of the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit's influence in this world is directed through Christ's body, the Church. Once the Church is taken out of the way (to
heaven), that medium for influence will be temporarily lost, allowing the Antichrist to be revealed.

My friend Dean Haidas has confirmed to me that this is what the actual Greek rendering of these verses mean. The following explanation is in his own words...

In Greek, we need to focus on the word which means "to hold down", "to restrain". This word is κατέχov. When this word first appears in verse 6,
it reads To κατέχov... To in Greek means The in English. But in verse 7 it reads O
κατέχωv. O in Greek is masculine. Also note that the Omicron has changed to Omega in this word (o has changed to
ω). This change is very important when we read and write Greek. This change now means that this is a living being! So now we have someone who is masculine and alive, holding
down the evil to come.

This would have to be the Holy Spirit, who is also inside all true believers in Christ. Verse 7 reads "until he is taken out of the way, then the lawless one will come".

This proves that in order for the Antichrist to be revealed, the Holy Spirit will be taken out of the way. When this happens, all believers who have the Holy Spirit in them will also be
taken out of the way (Rapture). Then the tribulation will begin.

Verse 6 - To κατέχov - The one who is holding down...
Verse 7 - O κατέχωv - He who is holding down...

Well I hope this has helped your understanding of timing of the Rapture of the Church. If you have any questions, just email, and I will try my best to help.

Christ - Our Sabbath

Christ - Our Sabbath

Written by Brian Anderson, Milpitas Bible Fellowship
Used with permission

Over the past two thousand years there has been much disagreement and controversy over the subject of the Sabbath. During the 17th century, the Puritans sought to enforce the Sabbath by having the civil magistrate fine offenders. The Seventh Day Adventists have historically taught that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast, and all that bear that mark will be cast into the lake of fire. Today, many churches will not fellowship with or partner in the spread of the gospel together with those churches that don't hold their particular view of the Sabbath, although 99% of their doctrine is identical.

Why is there such controversy over the issue of the Sabbath? The answer lies in the fact that there are three major views which Christians have historically held concerning it.

The Seventh Day View holds that God instituted the Sabbath on the seventh day in the Garden of Eden as a perpetual creation ordinance that is still binding on believers today. Thus Christians are obligated to hold Saturday as a day of rest.

The Christian Sabbath View holds that Christ and His apostles changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, and that we obey this command by resting and worshipping on Sunday.

The New Covenant View holds the position that the Sabbath was abolished when the New Covenant was ratified by the death of Christ along with all the other ceremonial laws of the Mosaic institution.

In this article, I would like to examine what the Scriptures teach about the Sabbath before the Mosaic Law, under the Mosaic Law, and finally, under the New Covenant. There has been much heat on this subject. May the Lord give us light from His Word.

Randy McKee: Babylonian Taxation

Greetings All:

Lord anoint my words that I may only speak yours.

There is a Holy grief inside of me; the shepard's pervert the Word and instead of laying their lives down for those entrusted to them; they torture, curse and slaughter them.

Listed below are most of the scriptures concerning tithing. There are only thirteen references to tithing in the Word.

First let me say that it is not my purpose to establish whether tithing is valid for us or not. I believe we are to freely receive and to freely give; so tithing to me is a moot point.

Let me make several points and then you read the following scriptures and judge if what I am saying is not true.

The tithe was to be paid on the increase of the land that God provides. This includes fruit harvested, crops grown, animals breed and honey gathered. Because both wine and oil are both symbolic of spiritual matters they are included. This is the basis that the tithe is to be paid only by that first level of production.

The person that owned the orchard that grew the apples, pays the tithe. The person who buys the apples from the orchard owner and makes apple pies to sell does not pay a tithe. The man who raises the cattle pays the tithe, not the person who buys the hide to make the leather to make the shoes.

We could expand this to the mining company who mines the iron ore pays the tithe, but the clerk who works in the car dealership that sells the car that was made from the ore does not.

The single mom working as a clerk for minimum wage does not pay a tithe!

This scriptural system establishes this single level tax. The Babylonian tax system was a "value added" system; everyone at every point pays the tax.

Many churches and all governments use this hellish Babylonian system of taxation.

May God have mercy on us!

Randy

Bob Neumann: The Traditions of Tithing

Bob Neumann: The Traditions of Tithing (1/1999)

Dear Bill, each time I try to deal with this particular ''beast'' it just gets too involved. To explain why JESUS hated the RELIGIOUS SYSTEM of THE PHARASEES, and HIS ANGER at the SYSTEM now in place forces the issue for me.

HE said the ''traditions of man'' overrode the Commandments of GOD, and those that held these traditions were a bunch of hypocrites and workers of iniquity with whom HE has no fellowship, no relationship. So I have a choice right now. I can join the hypocrites and deny my LORD. Or dish it out and offend all of Christendom. Guess what church, you lost. Put on your lifejackets because the LORD, THE LORD MOST HIGH, wants you ''dead''. One way or another, your ship is not coming in. it sinks.

So I ask you exactly what HE asked me. "DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND TRUTH?"
SELAH.

THE TRUTH

THE TORAH SET FORTH THE TITHES. YES THAT IS PLURAL. FOR THE PURPOSE OF FEEDING THE WIDOWS, ORPHANS, THE ONES ABANDONDED, AND THE TRIBE OF LEVI. The MISHCON.

THE TABERNACLE OF MEETING had been built and was a low maintenance TENT. No crystal cathedral, no set of walls with doctrines, just the place of HIS SHEKINAH. SO MAN PREFERS AFFLUENCE AND CONTROL OVER HIS GLORY. BAD CHOICE.

Deuteronomy 12:6-14 , 6 And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:
7 And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.
8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
9 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:
12 And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
14 But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

Look at verse 12 again. 12 And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

Boy, what does this mean? That those in ministry are not to have part of ''the land'' like everyone else? That they would receive 'their daily bread' on an even level as the hired help? No wonder why RELIGION became a necessity for a hypocrite. Little incentive for wealth, power, esteem. That is GOD'S AGENDA. It is the pure TRUTH.

2 Chron. 31: 4 Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.

So the LAW states that the tithe fed and housed the SERVANTS of GOD. Only we are told over and over exactly how GOD wanted things to be.

Num. 31: 47 Even of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses. That is THE LAW. OLD TESTAMENT. Fifths and tenths to care first for widows, then orphans, then strangers/aliens. And then the PROFESSIONAL CLERGY. As we would call them. But how often do the cries of ''we are not under LAW. We are ''under grace'' ring out? Fine when did GRACE BEGIN?

Acts 4:32-37 , 32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet. (KJV)

So if you want to ignore LAW and use GRACE. You do what JESUS asked of the rich young ruler. And simply give all to the LORD. Again simple TRUTH. Is HIS CHURCH of one heart? One soul? Having ''great power'' as we ''give the world a witness of THE LORD JESUS our CHRIST"? Then maybe we should not wonder why that ''great grace'' is missing. Nor should we be surprised that everywhere we turn THE CHURCH stands against being ''one'' in any way, shape, or form. Selah. Selah. Selah.

And now the REALITY

Today the "TITHE" is what pays for the expenses of what we call ''THE CHURCH''. As the old saying goes. "It's a good job if you can get it". And what is the PURPOSE of THE CHURCH. Think of all the answers that are flying around there. To reach the lost, to spread the gospel, to show the light of JESUS, to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. Why go on. THE REALITY is the ''TITHE" is what keeps the local ministries in the game of raising money.

How many churches spend 90% of the ''tithes and offerings'' for missions?

How many churches use 40-50% of their cash flow to feed the widows and orphans?

How many pastors work a 40-hour a week in the world and tend a flock in AMERICA today?

How many called to the mission fields have to beg and plead for support year in and year out?

How many food pantries, soup kitchens, rescue houses and shelters for the hurting are scrimping daily trying to reach out to as many as possible as THE AMERICAN MEGACHURCH pays millions of dollars a week for air-conditioning, sound systems, teleprompters, and air time.

And some dare to ask WHY THE MOST HOLY SPIRIT GRIEVES. WHY ABBA IS OFFENDED. AND WHY THE LAMB PREPARES TO DESTROY THE AFFLUENT AND USELESS APOSTATE CHURCH . . . BEHOLD THE TWO-EDGED SWORD OF THIS ABOMINATION.
THE FIRST IS THE EXTORTION OF MONEY FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAN'S PERSONAL KINGDOMS. MALFESCENCE OF THE MOST PROFOUND ORDER. THE SECOND IS THE WHOLESALE MERCHANDICING OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD TO LINE THE POCKETS OF BABYLON ON A SCALE UNIMAGINABLE TO EARLIER GENERATIONS.

THE FIRST TRUTH

Matthew 6:33 , 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV)
Exodus 19:5-7 , 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. (KJV)
Exodus 20:1-7 , 1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD ill not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (KJV)

THE FIRST REALITY. By serving ministry and self, APOSTATE Christianity can provide for itself. Of course the way to do it all is to create RELIGIOUS TRADITION once again that would replace GOD and GOD'S commandments. Once the LIE is accepted in place of TRUTH we can point to REALITY for ''self-justification'' to feed off HIS FLOCK. No need to SERVE GOD. Because we now do right in our own eyes. And because we are right. All the means are justified to reach the end we envision. And woe to the sheep if they don't ante up fast enough, because we will brow beat them, cajole them, feed them all manor of lies and doctrines of demons to ''influence'' their REALITY. And that reality is ''my ministry''. ''My vision''. .''My anointing''. ''My calling''.

THE SECOND REALITY is if the first don't work we'll get it and make the sheep pay with interest, to BABYLON of course. But remember the ends justify the means doesn't it! So take out loans and build edifices to ''house the sheep'', and to impress all other hirelings. Now write a book, cut a CD, do tape series after tape series and sell it to hireling wannabes and sheep dumb enough to believe that serving man and serving GOD are one and the same. Wonder why the sheep quote Dr so and so. Rev what's his name, Pastor you know who and never LOGOS?

Wonder why THE CHURCH runs all over from show to show for healing, deliverance, prophetic WORDS, and ''signs and wonders'' in general? And never have relationship with THE FATHER?

THE TRUTH is simple.

Matthew 16:4 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Matthew 7:21-28 , 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: (KJV)

So let me show you a future reality JESUS has HIS own doctrine and it is not really a doctrine as we ''know'' it. Call it "HOUSE RULES''. Maybe just a little something man forget in his hurry to build his own ''little kingdoms''.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 , 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. (KJV)

Matthew 25:31-46 , 31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (KJV)

That is REALITY. And it is TRUTH.

So choose you this day. To be an unfruitful work of darkness, IN JESUS NAME.
Of course, got to have someone shouting "LORD! LORD!'' thinking they played the game by their own rules in anticipation of great blessings. Never knowing the curse they were under in the midst of their 'prosperity'. And you wonder why your ''seed'' is cursed? Why the LAND is cursed? Why you pray and never get exactly what you were asking for? Why America has become a lawless, violent, perverse state where LAW is cast down and lies rule?
Maybe asking, or should I say demanding, GOD to bless what HIS WORD declares to be ABOMINATION in HIS EYES, and a stench before HIM might just be your problem. To be 'cursed' and calling it 'blessing'
Selah
dog

Pre-rapture theory

The Secret Rapture

Lorraine Day, M.D.

Many Christians believe that Christ's second coming will be in two stages -- first, a secret rapture of the Church at the beginning of a seven year period of tribulation, followed by a visible, triumphant return of Christ to the earth, accompanied by the Church, at the close of the seven year period.

They believe that during this seven year period there will be a great tribulation during which time, God will select and seal 144,000 literal Jews (who are sexually celibate) who will take the Gospel of the Kingdom to the whole world, converting innumerable souls to Christ.

The war of Armageddon, a literal war of nations against literal Israel, which occurs near the end of the seven year period, is brought to a halt by Christ's return with His Church. Then literal Israel accepts the Lord as the Messiah and enters with Him as His covenant people into the 1,000 year (millennial) reign on earth, known as the Kingdom Age.

Christ will rule directly over the earth from the throne of David in Jerusalem, where the typical temple services function again. Those who ultimately reject Christ's rule are eventually judged and destroyed at the end of the Millennium. The new believers will then receive immortality and eternity will begin.

That is the doctrine of the Secret Rapture.

Is this doctrine Biblical?

Which texts support it?

Are there other texts that deny this doctrine?

How long has this doctrine been prevalent in Christianity?

How did it begin, and who was/is the primary promoter of it?

In early 1830, Margaret McDonald, a 15 year old Scottish Girl had visions that included a Secret Rapture of believers before the appearance of the Antichrist. Edward Irving (1792-1834) her Scottish Presbyterian pastor and forerunner of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, attended prophecy conferences that began in Dublin Ireland in that same year, 1830, at Powerscourt Castle. There he promoted the doctrine of the Secret Rapture.

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882), a minister of the Church of Ireland, later became a member of the Plymouth Brethren and also promoted a Secret Rapture after attending the same Powerscourt Bible Prophecy meeting in 1830 where he learned of Margaret McDonald's vision. He visited Margaret McDonald at her home in Port Glasgow, Scotland, then later visited America several times where his Secret Rapture theology was quite well accepted.

The writings of John Darby greatly influenced Cyrus Scofield (1843-1921) who incorporated this doctrine in the notes of his Scofield Reference Bible, first published by Oxford University Press in 1909. One million copies were printed by 1930, firmly establishing this Futurist interpretation in the Bible schools and denominations of the United States in the 20th Century.

Did this Secret Rapture doctrine really start with Margaret McDonald, John Darby and Cyrus Scofield, or did it originate much earlier?

Historical evidence shows that it originated much earlier.

Before and during the Protestant Reformation, the Reformers embraced the "Historical" interpretation of the Bible, where the antichrist was clearly seen as a SYSTEM of apostasy and persecution rather than a single individual. John spoke of antichrist that "shall come" but he added that "even now are there MANY antichrists." 1 John 2:18

So we know that there are, and/or have been, MANY antichrists, NOT just one, AND that the system of antichrist was operating at the time John was writing, almost 2,000 years ago.

The conclusion of those who studied these prophecies during the Reformation was that there was only one system that fit all the characteristics of the antichrist power: the papacy of the Roman Catholic Church. Its characteristics included the following:

5) It would rule "over many nations, people and tongues." In other words, it would be a universal world governing body (Rev 13:7)

6) It would claim authority over all kings (Rev 17:18)

3) Its leaders would make great and blasphemous claims against God. (Rev 13:1,6)

4) It would claim it had the power to change "times and laws." (Dan 7:25)

5) It would be a "mother" harlot church with apostate daughters coming from her. (Rev 17:5)

6) It would be an apostate church that would make all nations drink of her apostasy. (Rev 14:8)

7) It would persecute the saints of Jesus Christ. (Rev 13:7)

8) It would rule for 1260 years (according to the "day-for-a-year" prophecy concept, adopted by many denominations) following the fall of pagan Rome and then would suffer what would appear to be a "deadly wound." (Rev 11:2,3; Rev 13:3)

9) It would be revived after the deadly wound, and the whole world would wonder at its revival.

It is not surprising that the Catholic Church was so violently opposed to the Bible being available for everyone to read for themselves. To control what they considered a heretical doctrine, the Catholic Church called for a special meeting, known as the Fifth Lateran Council (1512-1517), which FORBADE anyone to publish a book without prior censorship. It also prohibited anyone from preaching on the subject of antichrist! The leaders of the Council and their governing body, the Catholic Church, also attempted to ban or burn all the Bibles, heretical books, and the heretics that owned or preached from them.

One major characteristic identifying the antichrist power was this 1260 days prophecy (interpreted as 1260 prophetic years) of persecution of the "saints", which appeared to be fulfilled in the Catholic Church's persecution of Christians throughout the dark ages, beginning in 538 A.D., after the fall of the pagan Roman empire, and extending to 1798, when the Pope was taken prisoner by Napoleon (considered by some to be the "deadly wound").

In order to divert attention AWAY from the Catholic Church as the antichrist power, a new interpretation would have to be found for this twelve century papal rule of the middle ages.

This was done by rejecting the "Historical" interpretation, and instead accepting the "Futurist" interpretation proposed by a Jesuit doctor of theology, Francisco Ribera (1537-1591). In his book, entitled In Sacrum Beati Ioannis Apostoli, & Evangelistiae Apocalypsin Commentarij, he postulated that the 1260 day prophecy (Rev 12:6) (42 months (Rev 11:2, 13:5), or time, times and half a time (Rev 12:14) - 3 1/2 times) were not 1260 years, but a literal 3 1/2 years, or 1260 actual days, and therefore NONE of the book of Revelation had any application to the middle ages or the papacy. It applied to a future period just prior to the Second Coming of Christ, hence it was called "Futurism" or the "Futurist" interpretation.

Manuel De Lacunza (1731-1801), a Jesuit priest from Chile, also advocated futurism in his manuscript entitled La Venida del Mesias en Gloria y Magestad ("The Coming of the Messiah in Glory and Majesty"). Writing under the assumed name of Juan Josafa (Rabbi) Ben-Ezra, Lacunza hoped to obscure the fact that he was a Catholic, in order to give his book better acceptance in Protestantism.

To make the prophecy fit its new interpretation, the 70 Weeks prophecy of Dan 9:24-27, beginning in 457 B.C. with the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (Ezra 7:1-27) had to develop a "gap." Arbitrarily, the 70th week (7 days = 7 years) of Daniel's prophecy is detached from its context and placed at the end of the age, 2000 years later. This "week" will, according to its proponents, constitute the "seven year tribulation period," prior to which the Secret Rapture will occur.

This "gap" theory states that all fulfillment of this prophecy is suspended until the Christian era is over. Then the last week of the 70 weeks prophecy becomes operative again, constituting the 7 year (a day is a year in prophecy*) period of tribulation. The "Rapturists" teach that the first sixty nine weeks of this seventy-week prophecy (490 years) reached from 457 B.C. to 27 A.D., the year that Christ began His ministry.

The "Historical" view teaches that the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel 9 began in 457 B.C. and ended when Stephen was stoned to death in 34 A.D. It was at that time that the gospel went to the "Gentiles" and the "Jewish" people lost their place as those "Chosen" to spread God's message to the world. They had rejected Christ by calling for His crucifixion in the "middle of the week," in 31 A.D. and then rejected Christ's followers by stoning Stephen 3 1/2 years later, at the end of the 70th week (34 A.D.).

*(1 day in prophecy = 1 year: Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6)

Which Bible texts are used in support of this Secret Rapture Theory,?
(also known as the Pre-tribulation Rapture)

Even though these texts are used to support the Secret Rapture Theory, if one reads the entire passage, or in some cases just the complete verse, it is clear that they do NOT support this theory.

A) 2 Peter 3:10-12 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. . ."

This may suggest a secret event. However there's MORE. The last part of this verse says ". . . in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

Clearly this is NOT a secret event.

"Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"

The point of the example of Jesus coming as a "thief in the night" is NOT that it will be a secret event, but that He will come at a time when nearly everyone will NOT be expecting Him. The warning to the believers is that we should constantly be holy in our conduct because Jesus could come when we least expect Him.

B) Luke 12: 39-40 "And this know, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have allowed his house to be broken into.

"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not."

Again, the warning is to be ready at all times, because Jesus will come at a time when we aren't expecting Him. This passage does NOT imply that His coming will be secret.

C) 1 Thess 5:2,4 "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the nightŠ

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be self-controlled."

Again, the message here is NOT that Jesus' coming will be secret, but that it will occur at a time when most will not expect it, therefore we must WATCH!

D) Revelation 16:15 "Behold I come as a thief. Blessed is he that WATCHETH, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame."

Again, the message is NOT that Jesus' coming will be secret, but that most will not be expecting it, therefore we must WATCH! "Garments" refers to our righteousness, (Zechariah 3:4,5) "lest he walk naked" (without righteousness).

E) Matt 24:40-42 "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. WATCH ye therefore; for ye know NOT what hour your Lord doth come."

The warning again is that His coming will be unexpected, NOT that His coming will be secret.

F) Luke 21:34 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be weighed down with carousing and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares."

We are told that if we watch and live righteously, we will NOT be caught unaware. Only the wicked will be caught unaware.

G) Revelation 3:3 ". . . if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you."

H) Revelation 3:10 "Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth."

We know that those who REFUSE the Mark of the Beast will NOT be affected by the Seven Last Plagues. (Rev 16:2) So the righteous WILL be kept from that hour of trial, the plagues, which shall come upon the whole world. But this does not mean that we will not have go through the time of trouble, nor that we will not be persecuted.

John 17:15 Jesus promised to be with us through our trials, not to remove us from them. Jesus prayed, "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

Jesus NEVER promised us that we would escape persecution, in fact, He promised us that we WOULD be persecuted.

John 15:20 "A servant is not greater than his Master. They persecuted Me, they will persecute you."

Texts that DISPROVE the Secret Rapture Theory

1) *** Do God's people live THROUGH the coming tribulation (including the seven last plagues) or are they raptured before the tribulation?"

Revelation 16:12,15: And the sixth angel poured out his vial (the sixth plague) upon the seat of the beast; and they gnawed their tongues for pain. . . Behold I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."

Why would Jesus be coming "as a thief" AFTER six plagues are already poured out, if He had already come "as a thief" BEFORE they were poured out?

2) *** No one can enter the (heavenly - see Rev 15:1) temple UNTIL the seven last plagues are completed!

Rev 15:8 ". . . and no man was able to enter into the temple (in heaven - see vs. 1) till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled."

3) *** They persecuted Jesus! They will persecute His followers!

John 15:20 Jesus said "Remember the word that I said unto you. The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they persecuted Me, they WILL also persecute you."

Dan 3:16-28 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had to ENTER the flames (be persecuted) but God was with them THROUGH the persecution.

Ps 96: Ancient Israelites, as a symbol of Christians in the time of the end, were delivered from Egyptian bondage AFTER the plagues, NOT BEFORE, so God's people will be protected THROUGH the plagues and delivered from the hand of the oppressor.

4) *** In this parable that Jesus told, the sheep and the goats are together UNTIL JESUS COMES.

Matt 13:24-30 "When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of glory. . . and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats."

5) *** The Wheat and the Tares grow together until the END - THE HARVEST.

Matt 13:24-30 In the parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus said "Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

7) God PROMISES us tribulation in this world.

John 16:33 "In this world you WILL have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Luke 21:10-12 "Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and great earthquakes shall be in various places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

"But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My Name's sake."

Mark 13:9 "But take heed to yourselves; for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them."

8) Question: Doesn't 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 say that some will go first and others follow?

Answer: No, it teaches that they will all go together.

1 Thess. 4:15-17 "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall NOT precede (prevent) them which are asleep (in death).

"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (from the graves - the first resurrection).

"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we always be with the Lord."

"Parousia" vs "Apokalupsis"

There are two Greek words that are translated "coming" in the Bible: parousia and apokalupsis. The Greek word "parousia" is translated "coming" 22 times, and translated "presence" only 2 times.

Those who believe in a "secret rapture" say that "parousia" refers to the secret "coming" of Jesus in His "presence and that "apokalupsis" refers to the visible, glorious "coming" of Jesus in power, seven years later. In the mid-point of that time, at 3 1/2 years, the antichrist will take charge.

Yet both "parousia" and "apokalupsis" are used to describe the second coming, illustrated by its parallel in the "days of Noah."

Matt 24:37 "As in the days of Noah, so shall also the coming (parousia) of the Son of Man be."

Luke 17:26,30 "As it was in the days of Noah. . . Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed (apokalupsis).

These two texts describe the same event, Noah's flood, but one uses "parousia" and the other uses "apokalupsis" so any distinction as some suggest, is unwarranted.

In 2 Peter 3:12, we read "looking for and hastening the coming (parousia) of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat."

This "coming" (the word - parousia) is used in 2 Thess 2:1-4,8 and says it will NOT happen until AFTER the AntiChrist has set himself up in the temple of God.

Those who believe in the secret rapture teach that it will occur BEFORE the seven year tribulation and BEFORE the Anti-Christ comes to power, which they believe will happen DURING the seven year tribulation. But the following passage says the Antichrist will come BEFORE the "parousia" occurs.

In other words, there is NO pre-tribulation Secret Rapture!

2 Thess 2:1-4, 8 "Now we beseech you, brethren, concerning the coming (parousia) of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him, "that you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ had come. Let no man deceive you by any means: for THAT DAY (the parousia) SHALL NOT COME except there come a falling away FIRST, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."

Question: Those who teach the "Secret Rapture" believe in a "seven year tribulation period." Where did they get this doctrine?

Their Answer: Daniel 9:24-27 speaks of a seventy-week prophecy (490 years). "Secret Rapture" believers teach that 69 weeks of this seventy-week prophecy (490 years) reached from 457 BC to 27AD, the year that Christ began His ministry.

They then teach that the last week - the 70th week, doesn't take place for another 2000 years. They place the last week, the 70th week, way down at the end of time, the last 7 years of earth's history - and define it as the tribulation.

NOTHING in the Bible suggests that this prophecy should be broken up in this way. NO OTHER Bible prophecy is broken up like this, with a 2000 year gap!

Our Answer: The 70 weeks (490 years) is a CONTINUOUS prophecy which began in 457 BC and ended in 34 AD, the year Stephen was stoned and the gospel was then taken to the "Gentiles."

Here's how the text reads:

Daniel; 9:24-27 "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon the holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins (Jesus death on the Cross), and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.

"Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem (457 BC) unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks and theescore and two weeks ( 7 + 62 = 69 weeks - until the beginning of Jesus' Ministry, His baptism, in 27 AD), the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

"And after threescore and two weeks (the 62 weeks that followed the first 7 weeks) shall Messiah be cut off (literal translation: "suffer the death penalty"), but not for Himself;. . .

"And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week; and in the middle of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation (offering) to cease. . ." (Jesus' death on the Cross occurred in 31 AD, in the "middle of the 70th week," which eliminated the need for the animal sacrifices in the temple). The 70th week ended in 34 AD when Stephen was stoned. The gospel then was taken to the "Gentiles", more properly translated "nations" which is the term the Bible uses for "unbelievers."

Summary: The Bible consistently teaches only ONE return of Christ and it will be a visible, world-wide, noisy event. "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God. . . and the dead in Christ shall rise first." Christ's coming will be both seen and heard.

An additional part of the Secret Rapture doctrine is that there will be a millennial kingdom set up on the earth when Jesus comes with His church and halts Armageddon. They believe that after the antichrist and his army are destroyed that Israel will accept the Lord as the Messiah and become His covenant people during this one thousand year "kingdom age."

The third temple will have been built and Jesus will personally reign over the nations in their mortal state from the throne of David in Jerusalem. They believe that animal sacrifices will begin again, even though Jesus' death on Calvary did away with them. At the end of the millennium, those who do not accept Christ will be destroyed and eternity will begin.

In our opinion, this interpretation of Scripture is incorrect for the following reasons:

1) The destruction that has occurred on the earth from the seven last plagues (Rev. 16) will make the earth uninhabitable.

2) Because humanity has long ignored God's directive to rest the earth every 7 years, the earth must lay dormant for 1000 years. This millennial period will allow the earth to make up for all the rest it did not receive during the 6000 years since creation.

3) There is an excellent reason why God did not destroy Satan when he first sinned. God is allowing Satan to continue his evil work until he completely destroys the earth. God will not stop Satan even one day short, otherwise Satan would cry "Foul!"

Satan, if he were stopped before completely destroying the earth, would claim that he could have turned things around if he had only been given more time. God will allow all the time necessary for Satan to prove that Satan's way does not work. Only then will Satan, the inhabitants of the world, and the inhabitants of the universe, be totally convinced that God's way is the only way.

This utter destruction of the earth will make it uninhabitable.

4) Satan and his evil angels will be bound to the earth by a "chain" of circumstances. They will be confined to the earth and its atmosphere for the millennium as part of reaping what they have sown, so they will get a full sense of the catastrophic results of their actions. They will have no one to tempt because the righteous will be in heaven, having ascended to meet Jesus in the air, and the wicked will all be dead, awaiting the second resurrection and the judgment (Rev 20:5) after the millennium.

There is not a different plan for the "Jew" and the "Gentile" during the millennium, as many Christians believe. In fact, there is no difference at all between the "Jew " and the "Greek" according to the Bible (Gal 3:28). In fact, there is no such thing AS a "Jew" or a "Gentile" (Please see the study at www.goodnewsaboutgod.com entitled "Who is Israel? Who is the Church?").

God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He loves everyone the same and He has just ONE plan for ALL!

We believe that the Biblical view is as follows:

There is ONE and ONLY ONE return of Christ, the Second Coming. It will NOT be a secret event. When He comes, every eye will see Him. so it will be a world-wide phenomenon, and it will be a loud, cataclysmic event. This will occur AFTER the tribulation. The righteous dead will be resurrected by Christ and they, with the righteous living, will be caught up in the air to meet the Lord to ascend to heaven for the millennium, regardless of nationality.

Jesus will continue to have His group on the earth, small though it may be, exhibiting HIS character, right up until the very end.

The remaining wicked on earth will be destroyed by the final catastrophic events of the end, a culmination of the devastation of the seven last plagues and the result of Christ's return with His hosts of angels breaking through into our atmosphere.

The wicked will remain dead for the 1000 years and Satan and his evil angels will be confined to this earth for that same period of time.

After the thousand year period is over, Christ and the saints return to earth from heaven, Satan is "loosed" for a short time simultaneous with the resurrection of the wicked dead for the judgment.

To find out what happens next, please see the study: "What Happens at the Judgment?"

Conclusion: The teaching of a Secret Rapture and escape from persecution will be a devastating deception for Christians. Persecution and suffering have always been God's means of strengthening His people and producing strong character.

Even Jesus "learned obedience through suffering." (Heb 5:8) Jesus guarantees that, if we speak His truth boldly, we WILL suffer persecution.

Satan wants to impede and restrain strength and character building in Christians by getting us focused on ESCAPING trouble and persecution instead of our preparing to GO THROUGH PERSECUTION, even to the point of death.

When these "soft" Christians are confronted with heavy persecution, they will fall like dominoes and Satan will be ecstatic. His lies will have worked once again!
